Abstract: With the rapid development of ultrasound techniques and the increasing diversity of anesthesia methods, nerve block technique is widely used for perioperative analgesia. Ultrasound‑guided quadratus lumborum block at the lateral supra‑arcuate ligament (QLB‑LSAL) is a new truncal blockade, which involves the administration of medication into the anterior aspect of the quadratus lumborum at the lateral supra‑arcuate ligament. This review summarizes the anatomical characteristics of quadratus lumborum‑thoracolumbar fascia and analgesic mechanism, puncture approaches, and perioperative application, in order to provide reference for clinical application.
