Abstract: Postoperative ileus (POI) is a common complication after abdominal surgery and causes the patient's unfavorable prognosis, and there are no effective means to prevent and treat it. This article reviews the research on POI in recent years, including the possible influencing factors, mechanism and several clinical prevention and treatment methods of POI after spinal surgery, so as to provide new ideas for the pre‑treatment of POI.
