Abstract: Background Urethral catheters after general anesthesia is a more important and commonly used preoperative preparation. We found that more patients with inserted urethral catheter after general anesthesia were agitated significantly during the postoperative period and the incidence of catheter-related bladder discomfort (CRBD) were also increased. Objective In order to improve the importance of CRBD, to prevent the occurrence of CRBD, improve the quality of anesthesia recovery. Content Provides an overview of the possible mechanisms of CRBD and the progress of clinical approaches. Trend The mechanism of CRBD is related to many factors. Further research is needed to provide preventive and therapeutic measures for clinical practice.
