Abstract: Objective To investigate the resources and influence factors of occupational stress among anesthesiologists in Jiangsu province, put forth the corresponding strategies and explore the intervention mechanisms underlying gradually established healthy and sustainable development of hospitals. Methods Using cluster sampling, we carried out the questionnaire among 432 anesthesiologists in 23 hospitals in Jiangsu province. Results Stress resources of anesthesiologists in Jinagsu province were, in proper order as:risks or accidents in work, long working time, the scientific research and title promotion, the requirements of leadership, the doctor-patient relationship, surgical intervention, and lack of anesthesia equipment or anesthetics. The work stress of anesthesiologists was mainly affected by risks in work, working holiday system, and the cases of daily operation. There were significantly statistical differences(P<0.05). Conclusions Although the sources of occupational stress among anesthesiologists in Jiangsu province are various, they have their own respective emphasis. All the hospitals should be targeted to gradually establish a feasible strategy to reduce the stress of anesthesiologists, and to better serve for patients.
