Abstract: Background Perioperative airway problems are common health issues and often cause severe complications and even death if inappropriately treated. Therefore, proficient airway management is one of the most important key elements in the safe conduct of paediatric anaesthesia. Objective To review the current developments in the management of difficult paediatric airway. Content This article summarizes important factors that affect paediatric airway, classifies management of difficult airway, and reviews commonly available devices suitable for the management of difficult paediatric airway in particular situations. Trend Early recognition of abnormal airway and skillful paediatric airway management to ensure oxygenation and ventilation are crucial for a better prognosis of perioperative paediatric airway problems.
