Background Rectus sheath block(RSB) is a trunk block technique applied as an agent of postoperative multimodal analgesia for abdominal surgeries with midline incisions. Objective This article aims to introduce RSB technique and its current clinical applications. Content This article reviews the anatomy, block technique, pharmacokinetics, clinical applications and complications of RBS. Trend RSB has great prospect as an agent of multimodal analgesia as well as in clinical anesthesia.
