Background　Neuropathic pain（NP） that damages patient's life and working ability is still a big challenge for pain clinician. It has been once believed that sensory nerve injury induces NP. However， recent works show that motor nerve injury may play more important role.　Objective　The role of motor nerve injury for generation of NP was emphasized to attract attention of basic and clinical pain researchers.　Content　In this article the related experimental and clinical evidences were reviewed and discussed.　Trend　Restoring motor function or stimulating motor?蛳related brain areas may be attenuate NP.
