Abstract: Objective To systematically evaluate the effect of pregabalin on postoperative pain. Methods Databases including PubMed, EMbase, Cochrane library(CENTRAL, Issue 5, 2015), WanFang Data, China Biology Medicine disc(CBM) and China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI) were searched to collect the randomized controlled trails (RCT) about the effect of pregabalin on postoperative pain from inception to March 2015. The Meta-analysis was conducted using RevMan 5.3 software. Results A total of 24 RCTs involving 1 718 patients were included. The results of meta-analysis showed that: patients randomized into pregabalin group had a lower pain score[standard mean difference(SMD)=-0.50, 95% confidence interval(CI)(-0.67, -0.33), P<0.01] and a lower opioid consumption[SMD=-1.08, 95%CI(-1.62, -0.55), P<0.01]. Conclusions Current studies are suggested that pregabalin provide better analgesia than placebo. However, due to the limited qualities of the included studies, the above conclusion still need more high quality research to be verified.
